Itinerary:
Day #1 Arrive in Tokyo, Japan. Welcome to Japan! Your hotel room is available for mid-afternoon check-in
Day #2 Tokyo. This morning’s sightseeing tour includes visits to the TOKYO TOWER, ASAKUSA KANNON TEMPLE, and NAKAMISE SHOPPING ARCADE. You will also drive through Akihabara and Ueno Park. The remainder of the day is at your leisure for independent activities. (B)
Day #3 Tokyo. Enjoy a full day at leisure to explore on your own. (B)
Day #4 Tokyo–Kyoto. Today, transfer to the train station and board your BULLET TRAIN to historic Kyoto, the former capital of Japan. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure. (B)
Day #5 Kyoto. Your morning tour includes a visit to NIJO CASTLE, built in 1603 as the official residence of Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu; the TEMPLE OF THE GOLD PAVILION, covered with shimmering gold leaf; and the IMPERIAL PALACE, home to the Imperial family until 1868. You will also have the chance to pick up a souvenir of your trip at a local handicraft shop. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. (B)NOTE:The Imperial Palace is closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays. In these instances, a visit to Nishi Honganji Temple will be substituted.
Day #6 Kyoto. A full day at leisure to explore this remarkable city. (B)
Day #7 Kyoto–Osaka. Your vacation ends with a transfer to Kansai Airport. (B)
